Materiality is the soul of spatial expression, bridging the gap between abstract concept and sensory experience. By defining boundaries and transitions, materials orchestrate the flow between public and private, interior and exterior.

This project explores these dynamics through a temporary theatre stage design for Girish Karnad’s historical play, Tughlaq. Set within the evocative ruins of Sarkhej Roza, Ahmedabad, the design must harmonize the play’s thematic intensity with the site’s architectural heritage. The challenge lies in crafting a character-driven performance space using modular systems for assembly and disassembly.
